Outdoor wedding

Outdoor nuptials are a big wedding trend at the moment, with lots of couples dreaming of getting married outside. Couples are moving away from the usual stuffy venues and looking for something a little different to get their guests talking.

Whether it is on a windy hill top or on a beautiful moonlit beach you can guaranteed a romantic affair. In England it is not only the unpredictable English weather that can cause problems with an outdoor wedding,  it can be difficult to get married outside due to the English laws, one option is to have a blessing or a non religious humanist ceremony outside.

For a fairy tale outdoor wedding any thing from a beautiful lush garden, a farmers field, to a simple beach chapel can make the perfect venue.  Larmer Tree Gardens’ pavilion in Wiltshire is a fabulous place for a civil ceremony, the pavilion is surrounded by lush lawns, simple striped deckchairs and there are also one or two peacocks making up the guest list. For a more informal venue where shorts and flip-flops are more appropriate then Bournemouth beach chapel is ideal. If a forest is more your style then paving the way for this type of wedding is Sherwood Forest.

Outdoor marquee wedding

Marquees or tepees are great for a wedding blessing in a farmers field or back garden.

Outdoor river bank wedding

Though getting married outdoors does have a few downsides, from unpredictable weather, soggy grass, muddy walkway, cool breeze, wet bridal attire, just to name a few.

Boots and signs

Wedding guests have to be warned to bring additional clothing, footwear and umbrellas just in case the weather turns.

In the wood wedding

At NS we have had the wonderful experience of an outdoor wedding on a river bank, which did bring us to the edge at times especially on the wedding morning as the heavens opened as we tried to dress the area, but the sun manage to show at the right time to give us enough time to complete the look. Once we had finished we just LOVED the atmosphere, in our experience the weather did not get in the way, and we soon found ways around any issues.

The kiss

If an outdoor wedding is your dream then don’t be put off.
