Great Gatsby Quote

The 1920’s and 30’s Hollywood glamour is very much back in vogue, especially after the remake of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic.  With everyone now falling over themselves to connect to the Great Gatsby fantasy, it is a wedding theme that cannot be over looked.

Here are my ideas for a Great Gatsby Wedding. I have already styled a Gangster and Molls wedding celebration, which was fabulous fun, with speakeasy influence, art deco style, and slender black and white detail.

I feel the Great Gatsby wedding style will be on a similar vein.

This timeless era is fabulously opulent and yet simple, a decadent mix of feathers, fans, pearls and rhinestone accents, with a great colour palette of gold, black and creams, and touches of vintage pastels such as mint and coral, perfect elements for a truly romantic wedding.

Fashion styles seem to be following in-line, with our favourite high street brands moving towards this romantic razzle dazzle time.

Lots of easy to wear column design wedding gowns adorned with drop waists, pearls and sequins, and finished off with delicate feathers, gorgeous t-bar shoes and beautiful elaborately designed hairpieces.

There are lots of possibilities and the look is every bride’s dream, with loose cut styles, slightly daring hemlines and neck lines, beautiful sheer textures, silhouette light silk, and topped off with faux fur shrug and lace jackets to add a bit of warmth. Gatsby Bride

The feminine Chesca beaded flapper dress and lace jacket is perfect for a modern Gatsby bride. The dress and jacket have pretty embroidery and beading design. The jacket is finished with mother-of-pearl button fastening, 3/4 length sleeves and a simple open neckline. To complete the look, the Rainbow Club ivory satin shoes are perfect, elegant, and timeless, with beautiful diamante encrusted bows, chic pointed toes and slender ankle straps. Top off the look with this beautiful diamante embellished comb to a simple hair style, to give a little Gatsby wedding sparkle. Gatsby Bridesmaid

Follow the style through to bridesmaids with the ultimate flapper look, in either muted pastels, silver grey, slate blue or oyster pink, all wonderful wedding shades. This mid length flapper style dress from Jigsaw in an oyster shade with detailed beadwork and sequins, is just the ticket.  Complement with statement pieces such as these Lido silver scroll pearl drop earrings, or this glam faux pearl and glittering diamante comb, and add a clutch purse and T-bar heels to complete the flapper look. With dancing on the agenda this fabulous style is just perfect.

I think that bridal flowers need to be graceful and romantic, a trailing bouquet with a touch of ivy, asparagus fern and the odd ostrich feather for a touch of glamour. If feathers are not quite fitting, then just add Gran’s vintage brooch to the ribbon on the bouquet handle to give that bespoke and personal finish.

Groom

For the male attendants, monochrome sophisticated tailored suits are apt, ensuring a dapper and confident look. A smart black dress suit with a dramatic bow tie fits the bill. Stepping out in this smart dress suit from one of Savile Row’s finest, Richard James of Mayfair is ideal. It’s detailed with notch lapels, 2 flap pocket and a chest pocket. The lapels, pockets and buttons are covered with satin, giving the suit a glamorous edge. Richard James has years of experience in tailoring on Savile Row so this suit from his diffusion line is perfect for a Gatsby style groom. The lining of the jacket is plain black, with highlighting, and bright green pocket jets. A pair of sleek Derby shoes will complete the ensemble, low cut lace-up with three raw eyelets and beautifully cut quarters.

The perfect wedding gift for a bride to give her Groom, especially if the groom is a regularly wearer of suits, would be this slim metal money clip from Mulberry. It will easily slot into the trouser pocket without adding too much weight or bulk. Constructed from a single piece of metal and decorated with the Mulberry logo.

.Newburgh Priory

The wedding venue needs to be in keeping with the theme. Downton Abbey may be a little over the top, but somewhere like Newburgh Priory is the perfect setting.   If you would like a dash of Downton Abbey, think about romantic wedding stationery. Replicate from the latest film a living floral wall display or have a statement backdrop which is great for wedding photographs; it could be positioned behind the top table, depending on the view. An elegant all white iced tiered wedding cake, touched with a geometric or lace pattern and on a lace covered table, will add a second focal point. great gatsby

Tablescapes should be quirky from dainty china teacups to beautiful lace doilies.  Add floral and table jewels to ensure wedding guests feel they have stepped back in time. Dress chairs in jewelled finished hoods.

A live Jazz band will top the entertainment list.

Use a vintage typewriter for little love notes from guests.

If the weather is good think about a little croquet on a pristine lawn along with a cocktail hour. Cocktails of the Great Gatsby era capture the iconic elegance of the Prohibition. Cocktails became the height of fashion, such as the Sidecar, classic Martini and the cooling Mint Julep. great gatsby ideas

When it is all over leave in style via a classic car – live the Gatsby life and celebrate being alive!
