Current wedding trends

At Norah Sleep we find weddings are becoming more personalised as each year passes and we see this year as being no different, with each happy couple bring their very own individuality to their wedding day.

We see the current wedding trends having more emphasis on nature, with additional natural designs and ideas being used. However, the classical wedding styles are still around but with a twist. For example, use a bold accent with a subtle colour palette, like delicate ivory with a splash of pillar box red to create a very striking look.

Here are a few of the current wedding trends that got our attention:

Simple Food

Formal dining seems to be a thing of the past, a cosy style brunch or a fish and chip supper seems to be more in vogue.

Bitsize treats

Plus, there are more requirements for alfresco dining, especially for the late spring and summer months, where wedding couples are choosing afternoon tea rather than a full blown menu.  With lots of delicious homemade style cakes and savouries served on vintage china, and if time is short for DIY catering, then M&S do some fabulous affordable bitsize treats.

If a complete dining experience is required then farm to table is still very popular, with locally source produce.

Metallic Style

This wedding season metallics are still very much around with subtle metallic touches and flashes of silver or gold.

Dress to impress with this exclusive on-line metallic lace silk dress from Aidan Mattox,  which is very much in keeping with the metallic trend. This elegant ivory dress with a blouson silk chiffon bodice, a full length lace skirt, with silver accents and miniature sequin detailing on the sleeve hems, is perfect for a  metallic style wedding. It is fully lined, with a deep vent, and a small keyhole detail at the back. Just adda few glitzy accessories to complete the metalic wedding look.

I think this simple contemporary style silver clutch from Whistles is the perfect metallic wedding accessory, especially when it is teamed up with these sharp and sleek Novara patent silver heels.

One statement piece is all that is needed for this stunning gown, and this delicate and timeless vintage bracelet is perfect, from Susan Caplan Vintage at John Lewis to complete the sophisticated metallic bridal look.

Simple Decor

Simple wedding decor is popular at the moment, giving a wedding a unique affordable wedding style.

floral decor

From glitter inspired name tags to natural herb table runners, wedding venues are enhanced by floral garlands and elegant centrepieces. Emphasis is on classical styles with romantic overtones, like these charming artificial old fashion rose garlands and pomanders, making classical additions to any wedding decor.

Floral Detail

Old fashioned flowers are still in favour for weddings and the old fashioned scented rose is high on the floral list, mixed in with gypsophilia for a romantic look.

Wedding flowers

Greenery seems to be all the rage such as lemon balm, rosemary, mint, and trailing ivy.  Another floral trend is home grown or locally grown flowers, meaning that you can cut cost, be eco-friendly and still choose fabulous flowers. Remember sweet scented blooms are never forgotten.

Selfie Ideas

With selfies being so popular I think they will definitely be making an appearance in the wedding stationery department from save the date cards to wedding invites, and it is one way to add your own personality to your wedding day.
