That is why at NS we have chosen to showcase Adorn Wedding Invitations one of UK’s leading and most loved wedding invitation designers and take you through a very special celebrity wedding invitation design love story:
An Invitation Design for the Pharaohs of Egypt
Adorn had the delightful assignment of designing and creating wedding invitations for the actress Vanessa Williams, we will all know her from Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives.
When Vanessa William’s contacted Adorn to create her luxury Egyptian themed wedding invitations; the team was absolutely exhilarated. With the chance to completely unleash their creative and artistic liberty – the team couldn’t wait to start brainstorming potential designs and creating an invitation that would be just as luxurious and as elegant as the proposed wedding ceremony.
During the research and inspiration process – the team discovered the story of when Vanessa and Jim’s love story first began. Both were cruising the Nile on a holiday in Egypt in 2012, when Vanessa laid eyes on Jim and noticed his Buffalo Sabre’s shirt. With her mother originally being from the small NY town – Vanessa struck up a conversation and after the following four hour long first date – it seemed as if a Wedding Ceremony was inevitable. Paying homage to the setting of where their love first blossomed – the couple thus chose an Egyptian themed wedding celebration.
Dreaming up the Egyptian concept
The team at Adorn worked closely with Vanessa and her renown wedding planner Carla Measer-Costamagna to brain storm glamorous Egyptian inspired ideas. Giving Vanessa the task of creating an online mood board – Vanessa and Jim’s ideas and wishes were always at the vanguard for the design team. The team also drew inspiration from the ceremony itself. Aspects like Vanessa’s gown, the exotic décor, the colour palette and even her hair and makeup were all considered when creating this piece of art.
The Colours of Love
Drawing from the Stunning Egyptian landscape where the couple first met – the final colour palette for the design beautifully reflects the golden sand dunes and striking wild flowers that grow along the Nile banks. A custom created Marsala was chosen for the main backing of the invitation and the envelopes as the colour beautifully embodies passion and romance with its rich and vibrant tones. This colour, in unification with the golden shimmer highlighters featured in the wording and cage detailing – embody the Royal Egyptian theme just flawlessly.
It’s the Small Things that count
Just as Vanessa had noticed Jim’s Sabres t-shirt and Jim had been spellbound by Vanessa’s penetrating blue eyes – Adorn also put an emphasis on the nuanced details in the design. So much so, that even lacework from Vanessa’s Carmen Marc Valvo gown made it onto the final prototype of the design.
Perhaps one of Adorn’s most signature process’ with several laser cut invitation designs, the complex and delicate laser cut detailing that graces the outside of the invitation is the exact mirror image of Vanessa’s lace gown and was intricately created by state of the art software. The designers had first hand drawn – a rarity in today’s modern landscape – the pattern, and then uploaded it onto a program where it would be duplicated creating a uniform pattern. This pattern was then transferred onto Adorn’s laser cutting machine which using a 3000 watt power laser – delicately cut the intricate shapes into the card.
However, the team’s favourite element of the invitation design was the 14k gold lotus flower that was hand applied to every invitation. During the research process – the team had discovered the flower is a beautiful expression of the couple’s love story. The flower, which symbolizes growth and new love, was engraved into Vanessa and Jim’s engagement ring. Being the hopeless romantics that they are – the team therefore couldn’t wait to integrate the touch into the design.
The Result – Invitations to complement ceremony
After months of the inspiration and the creation process – the final design had been completed and sent off to Vanessa and Jim and just as Vanessa and Jim immediately fell in love when they had met, it seems that the same could be said for the invitations as well. Vanessa described them as being “a beautiful piece of art” and “an absolute hit with the guests!” Considering that the design team also fell in love with the invitation – with Vanessa’s blessings Adorn will be putting the design into production later this year at a lower cost so all brides can enjoy the romance of such a lavish invitation.
